- Texas House Online – Website for the Texas House of Representatives. This site provides access to audio and video broadcasts for house chamber proceedings and committee hearings, biographical information, newsletters, and news releases.
- Texas Senate Online – Website for the Texas Senate. This site provides access to audio and video broadcasts for senate chamber proceedings and committee hearings, biographical information, newsletters, news releases, and a kid’s page.
What Does That Stand For?
Learn about various Republican Women, Texas GOP and misc acronyms.
Republican Women (RW) Acronyms:
GHCRW – Greater Houston Council of RW. Made up of Member RW’s in the greater Houston area. GHC meets quarterly in Houston and they hold training classes such as Nuts and Bolts so new officers and chairs can learn about the responsibilities of their office.
NFRW – National Federation of RW. Made up of State RWs and they hold a biennial convention that is held in a major city in the nation.
TFRW – Texas Federation of RW. Made up of RWs in the State of Texas. TFRW holds a Biennial Convention in odd number years in various cities in Texas. TFRW sponsors various events including a Legislative Day during Legislative Session (meets in odd number years) and during the RPT Convention.
Texas Acronyms:
GCRP – Galveston County Republican Party. County Chair is elected in even numbered years to lead the GCRP.
GCEC – Galveston County Executive Committee. Made up of County Chair and Precinct Chairs. Their monthly meetings are open to the public. Elected in even numbered years.
HD – House District; There are 150 House Districts in the State of Texas. Galveston County has two HDs: HD-23 (south) and HD-24 (north).
RNC – Republican National Committee. Made up of Committee men and women from each state. In Texas, they are elected by Delegates from the floor during the RPT convention in General Session. The Republican National Convention meets in a major American city in Presidential years. Republican nominees for President and VP formally accept the nomination during the RNC.
RPT – Republican Party of Texas is the statewide organization. The RPT Convention meets in even numbered years in prominent cities in the state. In Presidential years THIS is where Delegates and Alternate Delegates are elected to represent each of our home towns at the Republican National Convention.
SBOE – State Board of Education. There are 15 Districts in Texas with Elected Representatives who serve four year terms and meet quarterly. Their job is to set policies and standards for Texas Public Schools. Our region is represented by Districts 7 and 8 and will be on the November ’22 Ballot. Texas Education Agency
SD – Senate District; There are 31 Senate Districts in the State of Texas. SD-11 includes all of Galveston County and part of Clear Lake.
SD Convention – Senate Districts hold a convention in even numbered years in counties across Texas. This is where Delegates and Alternate Delegates are elected to represent us at Biennial Convention.
SREC – State Republican Executive Committee. Made up of one committee man and one committee woman from each of the 31 Senate Districts in Texas. Elected at the SD Conventions in each County across the state of Texas.

GIPC – Galveston Island Pachyderm Club are part of a National Pachyderm.
